Fifty YEARS OF OUTSTANDING MONTESSORI EDUCATION

New World Montessori School has joyfully educated and nurtured countless children since 1975.  Those children and their families comprise an ever-growing community of people who value human dignity, honesty, kindness and compassion as much as they value academic achievement.

Our experienced and longstanding staff of primary and elementary teachers are all graduates of internationally-respected AMI training centers. They are dedicated to providing gentle nurturing, wise guidance, and an unequaled Montessori education.

The stability and high quality of the New World faculty is a testimony to the positive culture of the school. Our Head of School has both primary and elementary Montessori training and decades of teaching experience.

We offer the authentic Montessori curriculum as well as Gym, Spanish, Music, and Environmental Education.

A Letter From Our Head of School

Dear Parents and Friends,

Imagine a world where all children are cherished, respected, and allowed to flower into their best selves. That Is the world that Maria Montessori envisioned and the world that we aspire to create. Our hope is that these children will go on to nurture our planet and lead humanity to a more peaceful and harmonious future.

The name of our school echoes the title of one of Maria Montessori’s books, Education for a New World, in which she explains that the purpose of education is not to transmit knowledge, but to release the immense potentialities within the child. From Dr. Montessori we learn to trust the child’s own laws of growth and follow the child’s lead.

As Maria Montessori said, “The child is endowed with an inner power which can guide us to a more luminous future.”

Montessori appeals to idealists, but that idealism is balanced by rigorous scientific study and observations that have been validated and endorsed by the educational experts of today. Montessori education lies at the intersection of science and idealism.

I have the honor of working in this idealistic/scientific arena where children’s natural gifts are nurtured and channeled, where they learn that work is joyful and that cooperation is more productive and rewarding than competition. I am profoundly grateful that I have the opportunity to do this work. It is my great privilege to serve the wonderful families who entrust their children to us, knowing that we will guide them gently but firmly toward a more luminous future.

Sincerely,

Priscilla Bovée, Head of School
